Amid clashes between two groups in Vedaranyam, Dr B.R Ambedkar statue was vandalised. It is alleged that the incident took place in front of the police personnel deployed in the area to keep law & order in check and to control communal unrest.

Irked by the incident several political parties and organisations from Tamil Nadu have strongly condemned the act. Cadres from Communist party, Viduthalai Siruthaigal and other parties have announced a state-wide protest.
In this scenario, stones were hurled at two government buses plying in Coimbatore city leaving the rear glasses of the bus shaterred.

The stones hurled were wrapped in a pamphlet which read the words 'Tamil Puli Katchi'. The note also read that the extremists can vandalise the statue but not the ideologies.
City police are investigating the cadres of the Tamil Puli Katchi regarding the incident.
