Coimbatore: Members of the All Jamat Association here jointly petitioned to the City Commissioner on Saturday alleging that the recent terror intrusion warning issued by the Intelligence Bureau for Tamil Nadu has been framed to defame the Islamic community people.

The alert warning of six terrorists from Srilanka intruding into Tamil Nadu and Coimbatore is not supported by proof. Yet, the news has been widely circulated and has created unrest and disrupted the communal harmony in the city.
The petitioners questioned as to what actions were initiated during the previous terror warnings and how many terroists were courted arrest from the same region? If so, why the details of the terrorists arrested from Coimbatore and their linkages with banned terrorist organisations were not revealed?, they questioned.
The petition further noted that the repeated accusations on Islamic people has disrupted the communal harmony in the city and brought much shame and embarrassment for people of Islamic community. Such sensitive allegations on Islamic people projects the community as anti-social elements and distances them from other people, the petition said.
The petitioners also strongly alleged that they suspect the hand of the central government in framing their community in such sensitive issues. They accused the BJP government of triggering such false alerts using the Intelligence bureau to divert the people from real issues like Kashmir problem.
The petition also urged the Commissioner and the District Collector to issue a statement to clarify the confusion and panic prevailing among the people here and to reveal the nature of the terror alert, instead of calling it just as a high alert.
They also accused the media for sensationalizing the news in a manner defaming the Islamic Community. They pointed that on Friday several news channels flashed the photos of two terroists and the vehicles numbers. However, later the Commissioner during the press meet denied of releasing any such photos or vehicles numbers. If not the police, who released the photos? the petitioners argued.
They jointly urged the people of Tamil Nadu to refrain from believing such baseless allegations putforth on Islamic community and assured of brotherhood and harmony as always.
