Coimbatore: After terror warning surfaced in TN last night, security has been beefed up throughout the district.
The police commenced the combing operation from 12 pm of Friday at all sensitive and public gathering places in the city. Following this, all shopping malls including fun mall and Brooke fields mall were put under intense scrutiny.
As thousands of people visit the malls, three-tier security has been provided to all malls in the city. More than 20 Tamil Nadu Commando force personnel on the evening of Friday carried out a combing operation in the mall to ensure the place is free from explosives.
Similar activity was carried out this evening at Fun mall on Avinashi road.
The police commissioner, Sumit Sharan through a press meet has assured the people not to panic and all police force has been put on alert to avoid untoward incidents.
He also advised the public not to panic and refrain from spreading baseless information in social media. Importantly, to avoid posting unnecessary posts that could trigger unrest.
On Friday morning, the IB confirmed of terrorist infiltration in the city and busted their plan to conduct bombings at several places in TN including Sulur air base here.
