Coimbatore: Following Intelligence Bureau reports confirming intrusion of six Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists have entered the State of Tamil Nadu through Sri Lanka, security measures have been beefed up throughout the district.

As per the information, the group consists of one Pakistani national and five Sri Lankan Tamils.
Over 2000 police personnel are deployed in at places of importance like bus stations, railway stations, airports, religious places and other sensitive areas. as Kerala shares a border with Tamil Nadu at a few places.
In one such combing operation in Mettupalayam, Additional DGP Jayanth Murali inspected the security measures.
The police were asked to stay extra vigilant at Mettupalayam, Karamadai, Sirumugai, Pillur and Kobanari, as they are close to the Kerala border. All vehicles to and from the Nilgiris district are allowed only after thorough inspection.
Over 500 Police, RPF and Naxal police, under the direct supervising of SP, Sujit Kumar are involved in vehicular inspection and are stationed at various check posts in Mettupalayam.
Additional DGP Jayanth Murali is inspecting the security measures across Mettupalayam and nearby regions and the vehicle inspection near Bhavani bridge. He advised the police personnel at check posts to be extra vigilant.
