Priya, (name changed) daughter of T. Kannan, a resident of TVS Nagar near Edayarpalayam has completed her 10th grade at Sri Krishna Matriculation higher secondary school here.
According to Kannan, while he along with his daughter had approached the school to issue a transfer certificate and original mark sheet so that she can enrol herself in another school for her 11th grade, the school administration has denied to issue the same citing several reasons including pending fees and conduct and has allegedly demanded Rs. 600/- from her for issuing the same.
When Kannan questioned the management on this, they handed him over the xerox copy of the TC and the mark sheet, however denied to issue original TC and mark sheet.
Following which he enrolled his daughter in the 11th grade in another school. After consulting his lawyer, Kannan, the father of the student, issued a cheque of Rs. 600 to the school to issue the TC.
"They have sent notice to my daughter just because I had questioned on why should I pay Rs 600/- for getting transfer certificate and mark sheet. Even after my daughter scoring 300 marks in the board exams, they have accused her of not attending the school regularly" alleged Kannan.
The aggrieved father expressed that his family is going through hard times and depression due to the incident.
Contrary to the father's allegation, the school has claimed that the conduct of the student was not satisfactory and when communication was sent to the parents, her father has been unresponsive and even made derogatory remarks.
In the letter addressed to the parents, the school correspondent had mentioned that the concerned student who did her 10th student during 2018- 19 was a regular late comer and had been taking leave often.
According to the letter, there was a pending fees due, in spite of which the school gave a duplicate copy of TC and mark sheet to the student for XI admission in a different school. Yet it was alleged that the parent, Krishnan continued to talk ill about the school and also prevented other parents from paying pending dues and stopped them from admitting in the school for XI standard.
According to the letter, he was instructed to pay the pending fees of Rs. 2155 and collect the original documents. It was stated that, if the parent continued to spread rumours and talked ill of the school, legal action would be initiated.
In a reply to the letter, Kannan sent a legal notice to the school correspondent on 22nd July that the allegations made by the school were not true and demanded the school to issue the original transfer certificate. The legal notice also claimed that the correspondent had behaved rudely when the student along with her parents went to school the day after the X results were declared.
The notice also mentioned that the student was denied admission and was asked to leave the school. The notice had asked the school to withdraw the entire allegation and issue the original TC to the student since the pending dues were cleared.
The legal notice also mentioned that in case the school failed to do so, civil and criminal proceedings will be initiated against the school apart from claiming damages for mental agony.
The School in turn had sent a legal notice in reply to Kannan's advocate claiming that all the allegations were false and the school has every right to deny admission to any student and that the school will not withdraw any allegation. The notice also claimed that the school correspondent has every right to claim damages for the unwarranted notice sent to the school correspondent.
