Chennai: The Tamil Nadu DGP Tripathi has clarified that the police have not released photos of any of the suspected terrorists related to the "six terrorists in TN alert" by the Intelligence Bureau. It has been widely reported that photos of suspected terrorists had been released. However, DGP Tripathi clarified that no pictures of suspects had been officially released by the Department.

Earlier, the Intelligence Bureau had warned the Tamil Nadu police that six terrorists from Sri Lanka and Pakistan have entered Tamil Nadu via Sri Lanka. Following this alert, the DGP had issued an order to all the District SPs across the State to conduct thorough vehicle inspections since midnight. A security alert had also been issued for major cities across Tamil Nadu.
Subsequently, security has been strengthened in public places such as the Coimbatore railway station, bus stops, temples, churches and mosques. The police are conducting vigorous raids in areas including Ukkadam, Kottaimedu, Kuniyamuthur and Karumbukadai. Train passengers are allowed entry at the railway station only after thorough inspections.
