Coimbatore : Confirming that the City of Coimbatore has been put on high alert following IB reports on possible terrorist attack in Coimbatore, the City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan at a press meet revealed that 2000 police have been deployed for security reasons.

At a press briefing held here, the city police commissioner confirmed that following IB reports on terror plots in the city, security has been beefed up at all entry and exit points of the city. "Especially malls, cinema theatres, bus stands, railway stations and other public joints are under intense scrutiny", he added.

The Commissioner also added that Airforce and Army are put on alert.
He assured that the police force is well equipped to handle the situation and public need not panic. He requested the public to avoid spreading rumors through social media and create panic.
The commissioner also confirmed that the police department has not released any photos of the terroist'.
