A cultural hall built at the cost of Rs.36 lakhs from the Palladam Legislative Assembly Development Fund for the Government High School located in Veerapandi, Palladam constituency in Tirupur was inaugurated on Thursday by the TN Education Minister Sengottaiyan and the Minister for Animal Husbandry, Udumalai K Radhakrishnan. Other legislative members, the District Collector and many others also participated in the event.
Addressing the media, the Education Minister Sengottaiyan said, "By the end of September, all the High Schools in the State will have upgraded Smart Classrooms with internet facility from Classes 9-12. To foster knowledge on Science, each school will be provided with an Atal Tinker Lab at a cost of Rs.20 lakhs each, which will function for five years. Steps have also been taken to provide a 'tablet' that is much more advanced than laptops for students of Classes 11 and 12, being provided by a voluntary organization in Malaysia," he added.
To a media query on the incident wherein police forcibly arrested farmers who were protesting against the construction of high tension power towers in the Palladam area, Udumalai K Radhakrishnan replied, "The Minister for Electricity has already clarified and explained the issue, and it will again be taken to the notice of the Minister."
