Coimbatore: Assuring swift action in constructing new houses under the Green House Scheme for the residents of Kandivazhi hamlet in Anaikatti, the District Collector K Rajamani stated that efforts were being made to find sponsors for the scheme.

“We have started the procedure from our side to finish the project as soon as possible. People should be responsible in using the scheme and not misuse it in anyway,” said the Collector during his visit to the hamlet on Tuesday.
K Rajamani was visiting the hamlet for the first time to distribute flood relief funds for 20 beneficiaries, amounting to Rs. 82,000. Each beneficiary received a sum each of Rs. 4,100. While 21 individual houses are in the hamlet, only 20 beneficiaries have been offered funds due to lack of proper certificates.
“The funds can be used to make temporary sheds as the houses have been damaged,” said the Collector.
Most of the houses in the hamlet were damaged by rains over the years and the roofs of a few houses collapsed, leaving the people homeless. While the District administration has agreed to offer funds under the Green House Scheme, efforts were on to seek sponsors from private bodies and a few Government departments.
The hamlet was recently equipped with a transformer to offer uninterrupted power supply, which was a dream come true for many residents who had waited for many years.
The District Collector was accompanied by Ruban Shankar Raja, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency, C Aarukutty, MLA of Goundampalayam Constituency, officials and village chiefs.
