Coimbatore : Members of EPF Employees’ Union staged a lunch-hour agitation in front of the PF office in Balasundaram road, on Tuesday. They demanded to complete the recruitment process in Group B and C with immediate effect.
The protesting members alleged that while recruitments for higher posts in Group A is carried out meticulously, whereas recruitment for Group B and C is purposefully neglected.

"As part of the restructuring, excess posts were created in Group A officers cadre, thus resulting in drastic reduction of staff strength in the Group B & C cadres. Creation of excess vacancies in Group A officers cadre has resulted in exploiting huge public money by way of higher pay and perquisites. Reducing staff strength in Group B and C posts has resulted in piling up of work including delay in settlement of provident fund claims", alleged G. Subramani, Secretary, EPF Employees’ Union.
He also apprised that they would continue to stage lunch-hour protest, until their pleas are heard. "However, we would be going on a nation-wide strike on August 28", he noted.

MP P.R. Natarajan who stood in support for them condemned the negligence of Group B and C employees. He alleged that the Employees Provident Fund Organisation is ruled by the Group A officers. "The employees belonging to Group B and C are neglected of their rights and perks, which is unfair", he alleged.
Executive committee members of the EPF Employees’ Union, Sebastian, Eswaran and other members took part in the protest.
