Coimbatore : Over 400 mobile phones which have been lost and recovered by the District Police were handed over the respective owners in the past few months said, Sujith Kumar, Superintendent of Police
There are increasing incidents of mobile thefts and stealing mobile phones in buses, and in other public places in the district have become rampant.
However, on the orders of the Superintendent of Police, Sujith Kumar steps have been augmented to check mobile phone thefts and recover the lost phones.
Resultantly over 400 mobile phones have been found and handed over to the owners in a year-long drive.
Sujith Kumar handed over the 40 mobile phones which were recovered this month.to the owners.
Sujith Kumar while speaking to the media said that “The police are monitoring and taking actions on complaints regarding the mobile phones thefts and missing cases of phones. Culprits who have stolen the mobile phones are being arrested. Likewise, the recovered mobile phones have been handed over to the respective owners”
Adding that “a special Task Force has been set up to investigate cases of sand theft, sale of cannabis, mobile phone thefts the SP said immediate action will be taken if the public alerts the Police about these crimes, happening anywhere in the district.
“Road accidents have decreased this year when compared to the previous year. The number of motorists operating vehicles with the helmet has increased. There have been reports that crimes against women are happening on the buses. Strict action will be taken against those perpetrators “the SP warned.
