CM grants compensation for families of deceased and injured in tragic accident near Trichy

Coimbatore: Eight people were killed and nine others injured when the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a well near Thuraiyur in Trichy district, on Sunday evening.

Coimbatore: Eight people were killed and nine others injured when the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a well near Thuraiyur in Trichy district, on Sunday evening. 

The Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced compensation of Rs 2,00,000 each for the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 each for those severely injured and Rs. 25,000 each for the slightly wounded from the Chief Minister's General Relief Fund. 

A group of 22 people from Perur and Kattapalli near Musiri in Trichy were on their way to a temple at S N Puthur when the tragic accident occurred. Based on orders from the CM, fire and rescue service personnel rushed to the spot to rescued the injured.

The dead have been identified as Gunaseelan, S/o of Kulanthaivel, Kumarathi, W/o of Gnanaseelan, Gomathi, W/o of Dhanapal, Kayalvizhi, W/o of Murugesan, Yamuna, D/o of Elangovan, Saran, S/o of Elangovan, Sanjana, D/o of Murugesan, Ezhilarasi, W/o of Gunaseelan.

The Chief Minister expressed his grief over the tragic accident and offered his condolences to the families of the deceased. In a release, the CM stated that he had ordered district authorities to rush to the spot of the accident and do the needful. The CM added that he had also ordered Government Hospital officials to provide necessary treatment to the injured and had asked the Minister for Tourism, Vellamandi N Natarajan, the Minister for Transport, M R Vijayabaskar and the Minister for Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare, S Valaramathi to visit the families of the deceased.
