The Collector who flagged off a helmet awareness rally in the city to emphasize the need for the public on wearing the life-saving helmet opined that "The increasing vehicular population attributes to increase in accidents. However, if the motorists abide by traffic rules while driving, the number of accidents could be largely minimized."
"The number of accidents has decreased by 21% this year compared to last year and steps have been taken to monitor and implement the helmet rule among the two-wheeler riders", he added.
The rally commenced with more than 100 participants from the Central Regional Transport Office who culminated at Nehru Sports Stadium and drove through Women's Polytechnic College, Gandhipuram.
