Coimbatore : In a noble gesture aimed at road safety, Rajasethumurali, a social worker from Kuniamuthur has collected funds from the public and is distributing helmets to the poor to increase the awareness on road safety measures
Coimbatore : In a noble gesture aimed at road safety, Rajasethumurali, a social worker from Kuniamuthur has collected funds from the public and is distributing helmets to the poor to increase the awareness on road safety measures.
The social activist distributed helmets to 20 two-wheeler riders belonging to poor socio economic status, who rode without wearing a helmet near the District Collectorate campus.
The activist runs “Pasiyara Soru”, an organization which collects food from function venues like marriage halls and distributes it to the needy.
While addressing the press he said, "In order to increase the awareness of wearing helmets, I am distributing free helmets to the needy. I am collecting funds with my collection box carried around in a three-wheeler. Since it is a social initiative I am able to purchase these helmets with Rs. 270 discount."
He distributed 20 free helmets on Independence Day and another 20 helmets today near the District Collectorate.
Rajasethumurali has also acted in various dramas and films.
