Coimbatore: Shriram Illakkiya Kazhagam, the literary wing of Shriram Group hosted the annual state-level Thirukkural Elocution and Drawing competition for school and college students in the city, on August 17 at Suburban Matric School. Over 213 students participated in the event.
Coimbatore: Shriram Illakkiya Kazhagam, the literary wing of Shriram Group hosted the annual state-level Thirukkural Elocution and Drawing competition for school and college students in the city, on August 17 at Suburban Matric School. Over 213 students participated in the event.
The Thirukkural competition was held in various categories such as Secondary, Higher Secondary and College. In the Secondary category, students from Classes 6-8 participated, while in the Higher Secondary category, students from Classes 9-12 took part and in the College category, all those pursuing under graduation, post graduation in various disciplines, as well as in medicine, engineering and polytechnic participated.
At the closing ceremony of the event, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, J Cedric Manuel awarded the winners and addressed the gathering. The Senior Manager of Shriram Chits, R Tamilarasu welcomed the group while the General Manager of Shriram Chits, Gurumurthy presided over the function and retired Economics teacher Vathsala chaired the event. V Chitra, the Principal of Suburban Matric School delivered a special address while Senior Manager of Shriram Chits, Subbu concluded the event thanking all those present and those who helped in organising it.
The winners of the Elocution competition were:
Secondary category: P Harshini, Sachidanda Jyoti Niketan International School, Mettupalayam.
Higher Secondary category: R Venkatesh, JAYCEE Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
College category: S Harish, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology.
The winners of the Drawing competition were:
Secondary category: M Vimali, Kikani Vidya Mandir (C.B.S.E).
Higher Secondary category: S Akash, Sri Ramakrishna Central School.
College category: N Gugapriya, Tirupur Kumaran Women's College.
