Coimbatore: The Peelamedu police arrested a fortune teller who robbed 13 sovereigns of gold ornament from a house in Chinniyampalayam on Friday.
Coimbatore: The Peelamedu police arrested a fortune teller who robbed 13 sovereigns of gold ornament from a house in Chinniyampalayam on Friday.
According to police reports, on August 11, a fortune teller approached the house of Ramkumar, a resident of Kamala Nagar, Chinniyampalayam in the pretext of predicting future.
While, Ramkumar left inside the house to get money, the fortune teller rushed inside the house and robbed a gold ornament that was kept on the table in the living room of the house. He later escaped from the spot.
Suspecting a foul play, Ramkumar checked the jewels purchased for his daughters wedding. He was shocked to find that a 13 sovereign gold ornament had gone missing.
He immediately reported the incident to the Peelamedu crime branch police and then lodged a complaint against the fortune teller.
With the help of CCTV video footage and sniffer dog, the police nabbed the fortune teller on Friday. Upon investigation, the police came to know that the accused has been involved in many such offences of similar nature in the past.
He was then handed over to the court and remanded in Central jail, Coimbatore.
