Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday announced its decision to increase the price of Aavin milk by Rs. 6 per litre. The new rate will come into effect on Monday.


Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday announced its decision to increase the price of Aavin milk by Rs. 6 per litre. The new rate will come into effect on Monday. 

As per the reports released by the Tamil Nadu government on price hike of Aavin milk, the rise in the prices of milk follows an increase in procurement price paid to 4.60 lakh dairy farmers, who were persistently requesting the government for an increase in the procurement price of cow and buffalo milk. 

The statement from the government also assured that the price hike will also ensure the supply of quality milk product. 

Hence, an increase in cow milk by Rs. 4 per litre and buffalo milk by Rs.6 per litre will come into effect from August 19.

While considering Aavin milk, the blue sachet (toned milk) which is the fast-moving milk and currently costs Rs. 37 per litre in the market will now cost Rs. 41 per litre from Monday. The double toned (Magenta colour) sachet which is selling at Rs. 34 per litre will now cost Rs. 40. 

And, the standardised milk (green colour) sachet costing Rs. 41 per litre will now cost Rs. 47 per litre and the full cream (orange colour) sachet which is Rs. 44 per litre, will cost Rs. 51 per litre. litre. The new rate will come into effect on Monday.
