"It's disheartening to see members leave the party. Things will be different after Sasikala is released", Pugalendi, AMMK Spokesperson in Coimbatore

Coimbatore : "It's disquieting to see party members quitting the party and joining other parties. Among other reasons, the difference of opinion with TTV Dhinakaran and AMMKs defeat in the recent Parliamentary elections led many members switch sides. The members who left doubted and questioned the prosperity of the party. However, things won't be the same after Sasikala's release, AMMK will rule the political scenario in Tamil Nadu", said Pugalendhi, Spokesperson of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kalagam here on Saturday.

Addressing the media from his relative's house in Udayampalayam here, the AMMK Spokesperson reassured to his party members that they should not hastily take decisions to leave the party.

"Though our party cadres have proposed to celebrate the birthday of our party General Secretary, Sasikala which falls on August 18 in a grandeur manner, we have decided to stay low, as she is in prison. Several charity works like providing food for the needy will be carried out across the State, as a mark of celebration", he added.

He expressed that Sasikala is undergoing several miseries in the prison, yet continues to seek the blessings of Jayalalithaa. He hinted that she is likely to be released by December 2019 or February 2020.

When questioned on AMMK's coalition plans, he said "At present, it is impossible for any party in the State to win without coalition. We are looking out for coalitions other than BJP."

When asked if it is possible to work with Sasikala after verbally criticizing her in the past, he said that neither the CM of Tamil Nadu or other Ministers other than Minister Jayakumar speak ill of her, whereas Sasikala did not utter anything ill about the Govt, in spite of being in prison.

"After her release, we are ready to follow and accept anything that she dictates", he added.

He then alleged that the Chief Minister should have personally visited the areas affected in flood in the Nilgiris district. And, added that relief items from AMMK are being sent to the flood-affected areas and TTV Dinakaran is likely to visit the Nilgiris district very soon.

"Just that we are a bit tired now, but will emerge strongly soon" he concluded.
