Coimbatore : The Director of Ministry of Shipping, T.Jayaseelan and Groundwater Management Analyst, D. Gnanasundar on Saturday visited various wards of the City Corporation and inspected the Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) systems adapted here.
Coimbatore : The Director of Ministry of Shipping, T.Jayaseelan and Groundwater Management Analyst, D. Gnanasundar on Saturday visited various wards of the City Corporation and inspected the Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) systems adapted here.
The officials conducted a field survey in educational institutions in Saravanampatti, CCMC North Zone to inspect implentation of RWH, under the Central government's Jal Shakti Abhiyan scheme.
They also inaugurated the RWH set up in a Middle school located in Shajahan Nagar belonging to the 31st ward of Coimbatore Corporation (North Zone) and initiated a tree planting drive where, 800 saplings were planted at a private college in Saravanampatti falling under the 28th ward of Coimbatore Corporation. Later, they inspected the water purifying centre and the artificial pond set up for saving rainwater in the Zone.
T.Jayaseelan, Director of Ministry of Shipping, addressed the students of the high school in 28th ward, Saravanampatti about the need of rainwater harvesting and other means of water conservation.
Assistant Commissioner of North Zone, Senthilkumar Rathnam, Assistant Executive Engineer Johnson, Sundarajan, Venkatachalam and Muthukumar took part in the program.
