Coimbatore: Saravanampatti police arrested six persons involved in abducting an industrialist and two other persons at knifepoint and are on the look out for others who are involved in the case.

V.Gunasekaran (56), is a resident of Balaji Layout, Ganapathi. He was acquainted with Adi Ganesan of Rathnapuri Adi Ganesan introduced a woman named Sathya to Gunasekaran in the pretext of gaining information on land for sale at a low price.
Following this, Gunasekaran contacted Sathya, and on August 13 Sathya arrived at Gunasekaran's house for discussing about the land. It was then decided that Sathya, Gunasekaran, his driver Ragupathi and friend Jenson would visit the land for sale.
On her way, Sathya stopped the car in Vinayagapuram area and said that her friend would also be accompanying them.
All of a sudden Jayakumar and his wife Anu from Ganapathi Maanagar and Kannan from Paramakudi and two others threatened the three at knifepoint and tied their hands together.
They then abducted the three men to a private godown that belonged to Govindaraj of Ammapatti, Udumalaipettai. The culprits then seized money, mobile phone, jewellery, ATM Card and everything from Gunasekaran and his accomplices and assaulted them with logs.
The abductors then demanded a ransom of Rs.8 lakhs from the victims. They even made them sign blank cheques and documents. However, when the abductors were in an inebriated state, Gunasekaran and his accomplices fled the scene and lodged a complaint at the Saravanampatti Police Station.
Based on the complaint, a team led by Saravanampatti Police Inspector Selvaraj, comprising Sub Inspectors Kandasamy, Bharathi Raja, Sarathkumar arrested the culprits.
The police caught hold of Adi Ganesan (44), Jayakumar (52), Sathya (27), Muthupandi (38), Senthil Kumar (41) and Govindaraj (50). The police are on the look out for other suspects Kannan, Anu and an unidentified man.
Police investigation revealed that Adi Ganesan was an important functionary of Adi Tamilar Viduthalai Munnani and a member of Confederacy for Amasai murder justice (PLEASE CHECK) and Muthu Pandi was a fake journalist.
The arrested are booked under 9 sections such as 147,148,120b, 323,324,342,364,397,506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.
