Under the Tirupur Smart City Scheme, the old bus stand has been renovated and expanded as a new bus stand. With the car and two-wheeler parking lot to be built in the vicinity, the Corporation authorities has planned to take over the Muthupudur Corporation Middle School which is still functioning.
The parents of the students who attended the Muthupudur Corporation Middle School were against the Corporation's decision of demolishing the school. Following this, an opinion meeting was held at the school premises on behalf of the Corporation and Department of School Education.
At the meeting, the parents opposed the demolition of the school and demanded that the school be operated in the same area as it is time-consuming to enroll their children in other schools.
Meanwhile, the public engaged in a heated argument with the officials of the Corporation and School Education due to which the Corporation Commissioner Sivakumar walked out of the meeting.
