Raja (45), a Tasmac employee of the shop no 2962, Kurubarapalli, Krishnagiri was brutally murdered by anti socials on the night of August 14.
Condemning the murder the Tasmac employees went on a strike, demanding security for the safety of the staff.
More than 250 shops remained closed due to the strike.
The shops in Coimbatore that generate a revenue of about Rs 8 crores in a day has been shut down today affecting the revenue.
More than 100 Tasmac workers from various unions laid a siege to the office of senior zonal manager in the Coimbatore Peelamedu area.
The Tasmac employees demanded compensation for the family of the deceased and Government job to the legal heir of the family. The protesters demanded to reduce the working hours of Tasmac shops to 8 hours and to extend police protection to the shops in rural areas.
