Coimbatore: In a bid to identify talented students in art and painting from Government schools, a three-day workshop on 'Monochromatic' painting was organised jointly by Volunteers of India Charitable and Social Trust and NAC Fine Arts Academy in the city.
Coimbatore: In a bid to identify talented students in art and painting from Government schools, a three-day workshop on 'Monochromatic' painting was organised jointly by Volunteers of India Charitable and Social Trust and NAC Fine Arts Academy in the city.
The workshop aims to identify school children from Government and Corporation Schools interested in pursuing arts.
As part of the selection process, around 1200 students from six Government and Corporation Middle schools were selected from Edayarpalayam, Kavundampalayam, Sanganoor, Vadakovai, P.N Pudur and Veera Keralam.
"We are conducting this workshop to motivate students who are talented in drawing and painting. We have chosen a subject called Monochromatic painting, an art which emphasises on the concept of creating landscapes using single colours. The concept reinstates that a painting need not have to be very colourful and aesthetics can be brought out in a single-colour", said Deepthi from Volunteers of India Charitable and Social Trust on the first day of the workshop held at a Government school in Edayarpalayam on August 14.
Farook from NAC Art Academy who is coordinating with the students and involved in the selection process said "This worlshop will help us identify talents and enable us to train. The trained students will be introduced to various competitions and exhibitions to increase their exposure at par with students of private schools. We are happy to witness the enthusiasm of the students and their ability to easily understand the nuances of art."
