Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani hoisted the national flag at 9.03 a.m at VOC Park grounds here on Thursday, as part of the 73rd Independence day celebrations in the district.

He also inspected the police parade and received the guard of honour.
City Police Commissioner, Sumit Saran, Superintendent of Police, Sujith Kumar and higher officials from other governmental departments were present.
Shortly, the Collector will be distributing welfare aid and honour the freedom fighters with shawl and mementoes. And, certificates will be distributed to the best performing police and government officials which will be followed by cultural programmes by school children.
