Coimbatore: The Police Commissioner, Sumit Saran inaugurated the installation of 55 CCTV cameras in the Singanallur police station limits here on Tuesday.
At all prominent locations, the City police have been continuously installing CCTV cameras which is regarded to be the third eye in spotting traffic violations, robberies, murders and other crimes. The ongoing CCTV installation work is carried out upon the orders of Police Commissioner, Sumit Saran and under the guidance of Deputy Commissioners, Balaji Saravanan and Perumal.
In the first phase, cameras were installed from R S Puram to Peelamedu, Saibaba Colony, Kattoor and Pothanur limits. Now, 55 cameras are being installed in areas under the E-1 Singanallur police station limits. The renovated rural police station was also inaugurated at the Singanallur bus station.
The Police Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, Intelligence Bureau Assistant Commissioner Ramesh Krishna, Assistant Commissioner Somasundaram, Singanallur police station Inspector Muniswaran, Sub-Inspector Arjun Kumar, Kasi Pandiyan, Special SI Prem Sugumar and other officials were also present at the event.
