Coimbatore: The city traffic police will hereon use advanced e-challan issuing devices with point of sale facility under the ‘One Nation, One Challan’ project. Superintendent of Police, Sujit Kumar on Tuesday, handed over 32 such e-challan devices to traffic sub-inspectors and law & order police inspectors.

Superintendent of Police, Sujit Kumar on Tuesday, handed over 32 such e-challan devices to traffic sub-inspectors and law & order police inspectors.
In the first phase, 16 e-challan machines were handed over to four traffic police officers and 12 law and order police officers belonging to Thudiyalur, Mettupalayam, Sulur and Pollachi jurisdiction, today.
The device allows the traffic violators to pay the fines using debit/credit cards or in cash. And those have neither will be delivered with a e-challan through which they can pay their fines in the treasury department, post office or online through the website of police department.
The e-challan will have details like vehicle number and the driver licence number. The device is programmed to generate the fine amount based on the violation. The details of the fine can also be retrieved using a QR code in the receipt.
The devices, which operate using software developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and will use SIM cards to store data. The cards would be integrated with software ‘Sarathi’ for driving licence data and ‘Vahan’ for vehicle registration data.
The Coimbatore district has already been implementing the e-challan services across the city.
