Coimbatore: "We are not like DMK Chief MK Stalin who has visited Nilgiris for a day, just for the sake of publicity, but we are here to supervise relief "said Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Coimbatore: "We are not like DMK Chief MK Stalin who has visited Nilgiris for a day, just for the sake of publicity, but we are here to supervise relief "said Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Addressing the reporters at the Coimbatore Airport, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K. Palaniswami said" I am going to release water from the Mettur dam for the delta region farmers. Deputy CM O.Paneerselvam will be visiting the rain-affected areas in Nilgiris to give relief to the victims and to speed up relief work.

Subsequently, he said that there is a misconception that "Kadaimadai" irrigated areas will get no water, as the Mukombu dam in Kollidam River is in disrepair and not yet renovated.

The Chief Minister said that 70 pillars have been constructed so far in the past two and a half years. The remaining pillars will be built soon, and steps have been taken to avoid water wastage.

When questioned about DMK party chief Stalin's visit and the Kashmir affair he said" The Revenue Minister has gone to Nilgiris the next day itself after getting information on the rain affectrd areas in Nilgiris district and has speeded up the relief work. Stalin will visit Nilgiris for publicity, But we are not like him, we will provide full relief to the affected people, and the Government is taking quick, timely action. Flood affected will be provided with the necessary relief measures.

While Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam will conduct a damage assessment exercise in the flood-affected areas, following which an estimation for central aid would be made and forwarded to the Central Government.

Slamming the "DMK and its coalition partners he said" The Centre has come up with a good plan for the people. The State govt is supporting it. The Government has provided relief measures to Gaja affected. Stalin will show off and brief the press, and then it all gets over."
