Coimbatore : In a concerted effort to make every individual in society socially responsible citizens, Chandran’s Yuva Foundation, a non-profitable organization which empowers the differently abled community, is organising the second edition of their annual marathon - the ISR Marathon on August 18, at 5 am.
Coimbatore : In a concerted effort to make every individual in society socially responsible citizens, Chandran’s Yuva Foundation, a non-profitable organization which empowers the differently abled community, is organising the second edition of their annual marathon - the ISR Marathon on August 18, at 5 am.
Beckoning the city’s denizens to give back to society, the ISR Marathon with the theme "Running for Them with Them" will kick-start at the VOC Grounds in the city and has various categories under which participants can run. The categories are 2 km, 5 km and 10 km runs, which carries a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 for the winner. This year’s ISR Marathon is expected to feature over 15,000 runners with more than 1000 volunteers to support over 500 beneficiaries for various needs.
Last year’s edition of the ISR Marathon witnessed over 11,000 runners, more than 700 volunteers with over 350 beneficiaries being aided by the noble cause.
Chandran’s Yuva Foundation which strives to empower the differently abled community and visually challenged community through skill development training, aims to create financial freedom helping them set up businesses or employing them in their own trained fields. In the journey of ‘giving back to the community,’ Chandran’s Yuva Foundation’s vision is to make the world ideal for everyone by extending the basic needs for a human being, which are food, clothing, shelter, education and healthcare. The Foundation, along with many volunteers have helped the needy immensely by contributing their valuable services and executing various initiatives. Their skill development training has positively impacted the lives of innumerable individuals and their families.
The backbone of Chandran’s Yuva foundation is their ISR - Individual Social Responsibility, which calls every citizen to give back to the community. They train even those who are completely visually challenged to use motorized sewing machines, conducting baking classes for the speech and hearing impaired, while having also trained a transgender to be a RJ. Their aim is to empower single women, transgenders, the needy and the destitute.
The Foundation is known for their contributions to society in social causes like installation of free sanitary vending napkins machines in public transport points, ‘Breastfeeding pods’ which are ‘mother cubicles’ in public transport areas, painting of the city’s walls, free cloth store for needy people at CMCH, free medical camps in tribal areas and other villages for underprivileged people, donating and maintaining saplings across the city, providing food for the needy like donating free bread and other food for CMCH patients. The organization was commended for being instrumental in skill development training for female prisoners in the Central Prison in Coimbatore.
