Coimbatore: Based on the orders issued by Sujith Kumar, the Superintendent of Police, the city police arrested 12 men from Malaipalayam village in Sultanpettai Panchayat of Sulur Taluk, Coimbatore for illegal gambling.
Coimbatore: Based on the orders issued by Sujith Kumar, the Superintendent of Police, the city police arrested 12 men from Malaipalayam village in Sultanpettai Panchayat of Sulur Taluk, Coimbatore for illegal gambling.
Based on a tip-off received on August 12, SP Sujith Kumar ordered the Sultanpettai police station team to conduct an investigation. The team comprising of the Sub-Inspector of Sultanpettai police station, Ganeshamurthy and other policemen discovered that a gambling game banned by the Tamil Nadu Government was being played in Periyasamy's house, located in Malaipalayam village.
The police arrested all 12 men involved in the gambling. They have been identified as Periyasamy (52), Rajan (31), Aandisamy (38) residents of Malaipalayam, Subramani (38), Mayilsamy (38), Sakthivel (39) from Aandipalayam, Abbas (25) and Raja (41) from Kamanayakanpalayam, Paulraj (45), Gopalakrishnan (37) from Narayanapuram, Navaneethan (39) from Odakkapalayam and Rathnamoorthi (29) from Manasipalayam were arrested. Rs. 20,800 was seized which was used for gambling. All 12 accused have been put behind bars at the Central jail.
