Coimbatore : Within 24 hours after Simplicity filed a report on the plight of the residents of Kandivazhi hamlet, officials have intervened in time to shift them to a safe place at Kondanur Pudhur in Anaikatti on Saturday.
Coimbatore : Within 24 hours after Simplicity filed a report on the plight of the residents of Kandivazhi hamlet, officials have intervened in time to shift them to a safe place at Kondanur Pudhur in Anaikatti on Saturday.
In addition to offering an interim camp for the residents at the Kondanur Pudhur Union School, officials have also assured to offer 20 plus Green Houses to the people.

As of today, 45 residents including children, women and old people have been shifted to the school safely. The rest would be shifted as soon as possible. They were provided dinner and are to be offered sheltered until rains get over.

The shifting was initiated after a visit by officials from the District Administration including Block Development Officer of Periyanaickenpalayam Mohan Babu, Revenue Inspector of Thudiyalur Vijaya, Village Administrative Officer of 24 Veerapandi Ramanathan and others under the guidance of Ruban Shankar Raja, the Project Director is District Rural Development Agency.

Simplicity had earlier reported that the hamlet dwellers were living dangerously with the roofs of their houses withering off. Though there was an option of building new houses under the Green Houses Project, they were unable to utilise it since it required more funds than offered.
Meanwhile, officials had assured to offer them the required sum under various schemes and also seek sponsorship from private parties.
