Coimbatore: A 2.6 years old girl child was washed away when flood waters entered the residential areas due to breach in Contour canal near Anaimalai.
A breach occurred n Contour canal that flows from Sarkarpathy PowerHouse to Anaimalai Police Range to Thirumurthi Dam. Sundari (2.6 yrs.) daughter Kunjappan washed away in the floods which entered Sarkarpathy Nagar.
About 19 families have lost their belongings which have been washed away in the floods.
The affected have been evacuated and sheltered at a nearby Electricity board office.
Three residents Azhagammal (35), Krishnan (6) and Jaya (15) were injured and admitted in the Vettaikaranputhur GH for first aid, and then two were sent to the Pollachi GH.
Krishnan who had severe injuries and suffocation was shifted to the CMCH.

Meanwhile, rescue operations commenced in full swing and teams led by Pollachi Forest Ranger Kasilingam, Sub Inspector Karupusamy Pandian, and Revenue Inspector Karupaiya are supervising the relief work.
