Coimbatore: Police arrested over 150 SDPI members who tried to lay siege to the BSNL office protesting against the passage of emergency bills in the Parliament.
The SDPI cadres have organised protests across the country in which Government offices were picketed opposing emergency bills including NIA Amendment Bill, UAPA bill and scrapping of Article 370 which amounted to acting against the spirit of democracy.
As a part of these protests, the SDPI members headed by District President, Raja Hussain tried to breach the Police barricades.

During the protest, they raised slogans against the Centre and the Police arrested the members who tried to blockade the road. Police also arrested MJK (please check) member who tried to protest in front of the railway station.
“The BJP which has been reelected at the Centre has passed 30 bills using its majority in the Parliament. What happened to Kashmir might be a forerunner for the other states in the future” the protesters said.
