Coimbatore: Medha Patkar has announced that she will be travelling to Madhya Pradesh to extend her support to tribals who are being evacuated with no precautionary measures undertaken by the Government.
Coimbatore: Medha Patkar has announced that she will be travelling to Madhya Pradesh to extend her support to tribals who are being evacuated with no precautionary measures undertaken by the Government.
Addressing the media at the Coimbatore Airport, Medha Patkar said, “The Central Government is trying to evacuate 30,000 tribals in the Bharwani region in Madhya Pradesh with no precautionary measures in place. I am going there to lend my support to these tribals.”
To a query on the Kashmir issue, Medha Patkar responded saying, “The Central government should have consulted the people of Kashmir if they wish to join democratic India. Earlier, a citizen from outside the State was not allowed to buy property in Kashmir which has now been lifted. This has led to the transfer of power to mighty people who are bound to set out to destroy the untouched natural beauty of Kashmir. People need to protest the 'Ahimsa' way. It was also wrong to place the former Chief Ministers of the State under house arrest. It is only logical to solve the issue with proper discussion and agreement with the people there,” she opined.
