On August 7, an elderly man was killed after his house collapsed due to flooding in Naduvattam. Meanwhile, a house in Indra Nagar in Naduvattam Panchayat collapsed due to heavy rains leaving two dead and one gravely injured.
The deceased have been identified as Amutha (36) and Kavya (12).
In another incident in Kaatukuppai area, a house collpased, leaving one dead. In a similar incident in Kuruthukuli, Vimala (38) and Sushila (36) died as their house collapsed after a major landslide.
Officials from the district administration and rescue team are working round-the-clock to evacuate people from low-lying regions and areas that are prone to landslides.
