According to the reports, Avalanche in the Nilgiris district has broke several past rainfall records in South India by receiving 2136 mm rainfall in 72 hours, 1731 mm I. 48 hours and 911 mm in 24 hours timeline.

As more rains are predicted till the weekend, the entire ghat of the Nilgiris section has been put on high alert.
