Coimbatore: The DVK Secretary, Nirmal Kumar who had been arrested for posting about beef eating in his social media profile was out on bail today. Addressing the media, Nirmal Kumar stated that he was treated like a convict and police officials mentally harassed him.
Nirmal Kumar clarified at the press meet that the complainant Manikandan was not even part of his 'Friends' list on Facebook and accused the police of intentionally framing him. “I was arrested for investigation but was treated like a convict. The police officials in the prison mentally harassed me and I was let out of my cell for a bath every day for only 15 minutes. The prison food was of low quality and even the police officials behaved like Hindu activists. I was not even allowed to meet my lawyers," stated Nirmal Kumar.
“I was not arrested for posting on Facebook but it was an attempt to curb anti-BJP protestors. But I will continue to write against Hindutva values,” stated a defiant Nirmal Kumar.
