Coimbatore: The 5th National Handloom Day event organised by the Assistant Director, Office of Handloom and Textiles, Coimbatore was held at the District Collectorate on August 7.
Coimbatore: The 5th National Handloom Day event organised by the Assistant Director, Office of Handloom and Textiles, Coimbatore was held at the District Collectorate on August 7.

Dr. G Ramakrishnan, HOD, Department of Fashion Technology, KCT along with faculty and students participated in the event. The event showcased handlooms and modified low weighing jacquard made by KCT, under the funding of the Department of Science and Technology, SEED Division, Govt. of India. The handlooms were installed in Samathur village in Pollachi.

The District Collector, K Rajamani enthusiastically participated in the handlooms installation by KCT. He appreciated the faculty and students for their involvement in handloom research in developing low weight jacquard which helped handloom weavers to enhance their livelihood at Samathur in Pollachi. He also lauded the Fashion Technology Department of KCT and KCT Business School's involvement in developing the brand logo for Kovaikora Cotton sarees, a project handed by the office of Handlooms and Textiles in Coimbatore.
