Coimbatore: Police arrested three youth for peddling drugs to college students in Pachapalayam in the city.
Based on the orders of Sujith Kumar, the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore, special police squads were formed to curb the sale of drugs, cannabis etc. which were targeted toward college students and women. Recently, the District Police Department allotted an exclusive phone number to college administrations and parents to send information on college students who were into drug abuse. The special squad continues to monitor both drug addicts and drug peddlers, strictly.
Meanwhile, at Pachapalayam, based on a tip-off received that three youth had arrived in a car at Pachapalayam to supply drugs to college students, SP Sujith Kumar ordered Deputy Superintendent Balamurugan and his team from the Perur police station comprising of Inspector Thuyamani, Sub Inspector John Rose, Head Constables Manivannan, Ravi Shankar and other police officers to apprehend the peddlers. The police team confiscated the car and after a thorough search found drugs inside the car.
The three youth Abdul Kadhar (23), a resident of Thondamuthur, Anoop Rahman (23), a resident of LIC Colony, Selvapuram and Thijeshwar Sabari (22), a resident of Sundakamuthur were booked under the Drugs (Control) Act. Along with the car, the police seized all 220 tablets found inside the car. The three accused have been put behind bars.
