Over a week, incessant monsoon rains have been lashing several parts of the Nilgiris district especially in places like Naduvattam, Pandalur in Gudalur. Owing to which, landslides and uprooted trees have disrupted road accessibility to a large extent.

The District Collector has ordered all officials to monitor the situation closely and attend to clearing of landslides, if reported. The rains has forced the people of the district to stay indoors, thus leaving the town of Ooty wear a deserted look sans tourists.
