Flood warning: District Collector requests people living along Bhavani river shores to evacuate


Coimbatore: Owing to increase in outflow of water released from Pillur dam, the District Collector has issued flood warning to all villages along the shores of river Bhavani. 

As of Thursday morning, the outflow from Pillur dam has been increased to 36,000 cubic feet which has resulted in heavy floods in the Bhavani river. While, the outlfow was 20,000 cubic feet on Wednesday. The surge in outflow almost twice has resulted in massive floods in the river. 

Hence, the district collector has ordered the officials to immediately evacuate the people living along the shores of the river. 

He has also directed the officials and rescue team to monitor the situation round-the-clock and ensure public safety.
