Tirupur: Residents of the 50th ward, Pattukottaiyar Nagar laid siege to the Corporation Office at Tirupur demanding basic amenities.
Over 600 families residing in the 50th ward of Pattukottaiyar Nagar in Tirupur have been repeatedly petitioning to the District administration that sewage water was overflowing into residential areas and yet no action has been forthcoming from the authorities. Likewise, they alleged that garbage too has not been collected for many weeks now because of which the area resembles a dump yard which could pose health hazards. Moreover, the residents also alleged that drinking water is supplied only once in 8 days for two hours.
Irate residents of the Pattukottaiyar Nagar thus laid siege to the Corporation Office in Tirupur demanding that drinking water be supplied once in two days regularly and to take necessary action to provide and maintain basic amenities in the area. The protesters dispersed only after the concerned authorities arrived at the spot and promised to take appropriate action on all issues.
