It may be recalled that auto drivers from the Townhall area handed over the belongings which belonged to a tippler who had lost his consciousness and fell by the roadside.
The incident happened a month back when auto drivers of Manikoondu auto stand noticed that a few pickpockets were about to rob a tippler who was lying in an unconscious state. The auto drivers intervened and collected his belongings before passing it on to the police.
Later they handed over the wallet and mobile phone to the Deputy Commissioner.
The police found out that the wallet contained Rs. 4,417 in cash. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Balaji Saravanan appreciated the honesty of the auto drivers for the Good Samaritan act.
The tippler was identified as Varadharajan (40), a resident of Sundakamuthur, Kovaipudur and the missing valuables was handed over to him by Balaji Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner of Police.
