Coimbatore: Mothers from various hamlets in Anaikatti gathered together to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week in the hill town, on Tuesday.
Coimbatore: Mothers from various hamlets in Anaikatti gathered together to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week in the hill town, on Tuesday.
Over 60 people including 26 pregnant women, 24 breastfeeding mothers and children from the hamlets of Dhoomanur, Kondanur, Panapalli and Thuvaipathi gathered at the Anaikatti Primary Health Centre along with Anganvadi teachers and supervisors within the Periyanaickenpalayam Union to participate in the one-day camp.
They were educated on breastfeeding by Dr. Srimathi, the Medical Officer and Sheela, an officer with the Child Development Department. The importance of breastfeeding to aid the required nutrition for their children which would hold them in good stead at later stages of their lives was highlighted at the camp.
Murugavel, Palanisamy and Karuppasamy who are village chiefs also participated in the camp.
