Coimbatore: Residents of the Chinna Thadagam area filed a petition to the District Collector K Rajamani demanding immediate implementation of the resolutions passed in the Grama Sabha meeting held at the Periyanaickenpalayam Union in Chinna Thadagam Panchayat.
The protesters said that major decisions were taken at the Gram Sabha Session of 2017-2018 and 2019, but had not been fulfilled yet. They added that the budget had not been allocated and demanded regular water supply. The protesters also claimed that the Panchayat employees were not attending the Grama Sabha meeting.
The protesters noted that the bore well water had a high level of iodine content which could prove to be harmful to children and the elderly. They urged the District Collector to hold a Grama Sabha meeting to discuss various issues like health hazards due to sewer blockage, removing waste from rooftops and some cement pipes near the bus stand, to construct a narrow bridge and clean water tanks regularly.
