Coimbatore: Even as the huge inflow into Pillur reservoir has come down gradually after midnight the outflow from the reservoir has also been scaled down and finally stopped.
Due to the continuous heavy inflow of waters in the reservoir, the water level touched 98 ft. against the total capacity of 100ft last night. The outflow was maintained at, 16, 000 tmcft. into the Bhavani River and a flood warning issued to the people living on the banks of the river.
Following which people residing on the banks of the river were cautioned not to venture into the river for bathing, fishing or attempt to cross it and were advised to move to higher grounds.
However, the surge in inflow had come down to 6000 tmcft from the earlier 16000 tmcft after midnight hours. Resultantly, the floodgates of the dam have been closed and outflow kept at the possible minimum.
