Coimbatore: The 12th edition of Texfair, an international exhibition for textile machinery, accessories and spares will be organised from August 9-12 at the Codissia Trade fair complex.

Addressing the press meet organised in this connection, P. Nataraj, Chairman, SIMA said that the “Third edition of " Farm to Finish Expo 2019”, an event to showcase the products of the entire textile value chain from cotton to finished products will also be conducted during the same period in the same venue”.

" While Texfair 2019 will be a welcome event at the time when the textile industry is going through a severe recession. The trade war between the USA and China has hit the textile raw material export to China very badly which has come down by 50% compared to last year. The domestic market also is not showing good signs. When the industry is in a bad shape, capital investments on machinery will definitely go down but the focus will be more on cost-saving measures, energy efficiency etc. Texfair an ideal event for exhibitors to showcase their products and technology in those lines. Contrary to what we had thought, the response was very good".

K.Selvaraju, Secretary-General, SIMA opined that “During recession technologies which reduce cost will be a more sought-after one. The purpose of the fair would also include measures to support import substitution by encouraging new inventions. While Rs. 1000 crore spot business was done in the last edition, and we expect the same quantum of business this year too”

“In spite of the tough times, stalls were booked in a record time of half an hour at Hall A, which is a very encouraging sign" he said.

"Farm to Finish Expo" will bring together all stakeholders in the entire textile value chain under one roof” according to SIMA office bearers.

“The expo will have 250 exhibitors and 320 stalls with participants from all over the country and from other countries like Japan, China and European countries will participate”

“The fair will be inaugurated by K.V.Srinivasan, Chairman, and Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council on August 9th”.
