“In recent times, medical wastes from Kerala are being dumped in Tamil Nadu borders. Anti-socials are dumping these wastes into the forests and roadside borders of Tamil Nadu in the wee hours of the night and make good their escape” say reliable sources.
These incidents have caused great discontent among the people of Tamil Nadu. Especially the n border areas near Coimbatore are targeted for this purpose and the medical wastes and plastic wastes are being brought in and dumped in truckloads in a clandestine manner.
In a recent incident, the men who dumped wastes from Kerala in the Pillayarpuram have fled the spot when they sighted police a few weeks ago.
The Podanur police have registered a case and are investigating.
Meanwhile, the police have intensified the night patrol in the border areas to keep a close vigil on these miscreants, who dump the wastes in a clandestine manner.
Last night, the Policemen on night patrol seized two trucks near Pillaiyarpuram after confirming that they were loaded with medical, plastic and glass wastes from the state of Cochin.
Following this, the police are interrogating the driver Sivakumar of Mysore and Vadivel from Villupuram about the origin of the wastes being dumped in Tamilnadu border.
Officers of the Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board have been informed about the incident and they are contemplating taking preventive and punitive measures against the miscreants who have converted the border areas into illegal dump yards.
