Coimbatore: The residents of Ganeshpuram, Annur, Coimbatore filed a petition with the District Collector K Rajamani opposing the opening of a new TASMAC outlet in their area.
Coimbatore: The residents of Ganeshpuram, Annur, Coimbatore filed a petition with the District Collector K Rajamani opposing the opening of a new TASMAC outlet in their area.
Over 100 families reside in Ganeshpuram, Annur and when it was reported that a liquor shop is to be opened in the agricultural land in the same area, residents and farmers staged a protest. Condemning the opening of the new liquor shop, they protested by holding liquor bottles in hand and then petitioned the District Collector.
"The State Govt is constructing a building to open a new TASMAC outlet in the area where there are agricultural lands, clinics, schools and residences. The women in the area feel unsafe as there are likely to be accidents," said the protestors. They urged the Collector to take immediate action.
