This comes in the wake of a TV journalist, G Muthuvel being hacked by a gang of three men at his office near Sattankulam on Wednesday night. They urged authorities to register a case of attempted murder, against a police official of Thattarmadam station who had allegedly instigated the attack on the reporter for carrying a news item against him, which has been denied by the police.
G Muthuvel who hails from Thamaraimozhi near Thattarmadam and reports in Srivaikuntam area for Polimer news channel was allegedly attacked by the gang around 9.30 p.m on Wednesday. Neighbours rushed to his workplace on hearing his cries and rushed him to Sattankulam Government Hospital, from where he was referred to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital. He suffered grievous injuries in his head, chest and an arm in the attack.
