Coimbatore : As speculations are rife that the arrested DMK cadres including MLA N. Karthik may be remanded, police security has been beefed up in front of the private marriage hall at Kottamedu here.
Tense situations prevail at the marriage hall where arrested DMK cadres along with N. Karthick, MLA were kept in custody, after they were arrested today morning for protesting in front of CCMC.

Speaking to Simplicity over phone, MLA N. Karthick said “The police have not released us yet, when enquired they say that they are awaiting orders from higher authorities. I guess they are planning to remand us.“
Sources say that Police have ordered dinner for about 500 people and May remand them after dinner.

It is also alleged that food has not been served to all. A majority of the arrested are waiting in hunger. Nearly 550 DMK cadres including 170 women are presently held in the hall.
Kottamedu area, where the hall is located is flooded with police personnel. However, there is no official confirmation from the police on remanding them.
